Since the onset of the Ukraine war, the author has felt a deep connection to its people. Entering the film script "Sacajawea, The Windcatcher" into a Ukrainian film festival, the author was honored to receive the award for Best Feature Script in 2025, believing this recognition highlights resilience and hope amidst suffering, not unlike Sacajawea's experiences in her life.
